Important Safety Information for Latex Condoms

Indications for Use:

Latex condoms are intended to prevent pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, and other sexually transmitted infections.

Effectiveness Statements:

When used correctly every time you have sex, latex condoms greatly reduce, but do not eliminate, the risk of pregnancy and the risk of catching or spreading HIV, the virus that causes AIDS.

Latex condoms reduce the risk of transmitting STIs by providing a barrier against the source of the infection. However, they do not completely eliminate the risks for these reasons: You can get some STIs on the skin in the genital area not covered by the condom; condoms can break or slip; people don’t always use condoms correctly; and people don’t always use condoms every time they have sex.

Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, can reduce the risk of transmission of gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomoniasis. Gonorrhea, chlamydia, and trichomoniasis are transmitted through bodily fluids exchanged during sexual intercourse. Consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk of STI transmission. However, no protective method is 100 percent effective, and condom use cannot guarantee absolute protection.

Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, may reduce the risk of transmission only when the infected areas are covered or protected by the condom. Herpes, syphilis, chancroid, and HPV are primarily transmitted through contact with infected skin or mucosal surfaces. Consistent and correct use of latex condoms may reduce the risk of genital herpes, syphilis, chancroid, and HPV infection only when the infected areas are covered or protected by the condom.

Allergy Warning:

Caution: This Product Contains Natural Rubber Latex Which May Cause Allergic Reactions.

Usage Warnings and Instructions:

To get the most protection from a latex condom, use one correctly every time you have sex. Please see directions for use on the package insert.

There are many STIs. A latex condom can reduce the risk of STI transmission to or from the head of the penis. However, some STIs can also be spread by other sexual contact. For additional information on STI protection, please read the information inside the package.

If you believe you have an STI, contact a health care provider. For more information on condoms or STIs, contact a health care provider or public health agency.

DO NOT USE OIL-BASED LUBRICANTS, such as those made with petroleum jelly (e.g., Vaseline®), mineral oil, vegetable oil, or cold cream, as these may damage the condom.

Check the expiration date before use. Do not use expired condoms.

Storage Instructions:

Store latex condoms in a cool dry place (below 100 degrees F) and avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Avoid excess heat.
